ALEX JAYNE 90S DREAM

Alternative pop prodigy Alex Jayne has already been compared to the likes of CHVRCHES, Lapsley and Rosie Lowe. Those parallels to the crème-de-la-crème of pop tastemakers are unlikely to stop being drawn up, especially when listeners whack their ears onto ‘90s Dream’. It’s a gossamer track which taps into the Shropshire songwriter’s hypothesis that dwelling in the past is the best way to move forward. “Imagine you’re on a film set. But it’s your own love story that’s being projected. It’s flashing before you, over and over again. For me that was the process of writing this song, reliving a relationship and realising I’m now free from it,” explains Alex Jayne. Produced by Duncan Pym, we love the woody percussion and thoroughly nineties guitar riff enmeshed in this electronic-pop sound, over which we hear Jayne’s mesmeric vocal. To top it all off, there’s a hypnagogic music video directed by Laurie Barraclough, which we highly recommend you watch below. - Hannah Thacker
